Debby Stromberg, LCSW-R

Certified Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist

My Story

I knew I wanted to be a Psychotherapist ever since my senior year of high school, when I took my first Psychology course. I was immediately intrigued by learning how our environment and family relationships shape who we become.

I've always been a curious person. I love hearing people's life stories and understanding family histories. I'm also deeply sensitive and empathic, so people tend to feel comfortable speaking with me from the very first conversation.

I believe our relationships and life experiences shape the ways we understand ourselves and connect with others. Through reflection, compassion, and a trusting therapeutic relationship, new possibilities for growth and healing can emerge.

My Approach

The Session Experience

My clients experience me as approachable and easy to talk with. I give space for each client to begin the session with what feels most important to them that day. I don't direct the topic, but I am actively engaged. As you share, I offer feedback from my observations in the form of comments and questions that facilitate contemplation. I'll encourage you to explore your dreams and reflect on your family dynamics.

My Philosophy

I draw from my training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, which means your history matters to me. My style is relational, therefore, the relationship we build together can itself become a vehicle for healing. Since your mental and physical health are deeply connected, I have a genuine interest in your overall well-being, so I'll ask about your diet, sleep, lifestyle, and whether you're keeping up with your medical care.

Who I Work With

I enjoy working with all people. My clients include individuals, couples, and families across all stages of life. Whether you are navigating a specific challenge or simply feeling that there should be more to life, I can help. Some of the most common reasons people come to me include:

  • Feeling lonely, anxious, or overwhelmed
  • Sadness or depression
  • Relationship and family conflict
  • Breakups, divorce, or loss of a loved one
  • Career concerns and life transitions
  • Parenting challenges, including children with special needs
  • Body image, food, and dieting
  • Pre-natal and post-natal support
  • Low self-esteem or feeling stuck
  • Narcissistic abuse
